FAQ
What are Special Weapons in Mega Man: Dual Override?
Does Proto Man get Special Weapons?
What are Shield Actions?
What is Jet Stinger?
Are weapon weaknesses known?
Mega Man: Dual Override splits combat gear by hero: Mega Man expands Special Weapons after boss victories, while Proto Man grows Shield Actions tied to the Proto Shield. Both systems sit beside Custom Chips (custom chips) and the Override meter (Override system). Hero differences are on Proto Man vs Mega Man. Confirmed bosses appear on Robot Masters list.

What are Special Weapons?
Capcom’s official site states Mega Man analyzes defeated Robot Masters to obtain Special Weapons. Those weapons spend weapon energy, unlike the default Mega Buster.

What are Shield Actions?
Capcom describes Proto Man as a close-range fighter who pairs the Proto Buster with the Proto Shield and Shield Actions triggered through button combinations (official site; PlayStation Blog Proto Man feature (2026-09-16)).

Justin Koreis (IGN Southeast Asia, 2026-09-19) describes Proto Man’s shield in the TGS demo: it can be thrown like a looping boomerang, it is raised during jumps, and two attacks were unlocked, a leaping uppercut and a horizontal dive. He adds that, as best he can tell, the Proto Shield gains new functions as bosses fall. IGN does not label these moves “Shield Actions”, and Capcom has not posted a complete move manual or final button map.

IGN also notes Proto Man’s charge shot presents as a semicircle slash, with heat easing over time or through a manual vent—demo feel only, not final balance numbers.
